Michael Monaghan was born in Dublin in 1956 and began painting from an early age. Over the past twenty five years he has developed his present style in the medium of oils and acrylics, and has been described as a Natural Artist.
His paintings are noted for their great depth of colour and warmth, capturing shifting moods of light and shade.
Michael has exhibited his work in galleries in Dublin and New York, and regularly exhibits in Art Ireland RDS, Kilkenny Arts Festival and Wexford Opera Festival.
The dominant themes in his painting are flowers, landscapes and figures. Michael loves exploring these various subjects in order to keep the passion alive, as he believes painting to be a joy, a lifelong journey and a passionate pursuit.
His work is represented by many corporate, public and private collections in Ireland including Eircom, Great Southern Hotels, the Russian Embassy, Department of Arts, Sports & Tourism and the Office of Public Works. His work is also in many private collections throughout Europe and the USA.
